The November 2023 FOCM | GLSA Networking Event

Clinical Trial Patient Recruitment Insights | November 15, 2023 GLSA Event

Event Date: November 15, 2023

Clinical trial patient recruitment insights were the focus of the November 15 GLSA networking event, which brought together industry professionals to share updates, exchange ideas, and explore new approaches to patient engagement in clinical research.

As part of GLSA’s commitment to meaningful connections, attendees were invited to share their LinkedIn profiles in the chat. This simple step helps foster continued collaboration and follow-up after each event.

Industry Updates and Emerging Patient Recruitment Tools

Before the featured presentation, the group discussed industry news, upcoming conferences, and new companies focused on improving patient access to clinical trials. In particular, the discussion highlighted several innovative platforms supporting patient identification and trial awareness, including:

  • iEnroll Digital

  • OntimeTrials

  • Sieve Health

  • Findmecure

  • HealMary.com

These solutions reflect the growing emphasis on patient-centered recruitment and digital outreach.

Featured Presentation: iEnroll Digital

The evening’s featured company was iEnroll Digital, presented by co-founders Freddie Sexton and Andy McWilliams. Their presentation focused on a key “blind spot” in the clinical trial patient experience—what happens between initial outreach and a patient’s first study visit.

They emphasized that warm, empathetic, and consistent communication during recruitment can significantly improve both enrollment and retention. By strengthening this early experience, research teams can create a more cohesive and effective enrollment process.

The discussion also explored challenges faced by clinical research coordinators, including staffing shortages, turnover, and the lasting impact of COVID-19. Attendees shared real-world insights into feasibility challenges, along with potential solutions involving AI tools and specialized vendor services.

Upcoming Events and Meeting Guidelines

Attendees were invited to join the December 13 event for a festive, holiday-themed networking session.

GLSA Meeting Guidelines:

  • Think of these events as an open house—drop in when you can and leave when you need to

  • Presentations typically begin once a strong group has assembled (about 10–15 minutes in)

  • Topics are educational, not sales pitches, and focus on specific aspects of clinical trials
