French Toast

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of bread (preferably thick-cut or day-old bread)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk (or cream for a richer texture)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
  • Butter or oil for frying
  • Maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit (for serving)

What You’ll Need:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk or fork
  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Plate and paper towels 

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sugar (if using).
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a small amount of butter or oil to coat the pan.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are evenly coated.
  4. Place the coated bread slices onto the heated skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  5. Remove from the skillet and place on a plate. Serve with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit.
