The December 2022 FOCM | GLSA Networking Event

December FOCM | GLSA Networking Event Recap

The December FOCM | GLSA networking event kicked off with a warm welcome and a brief overview of how these gatherings work. For newcomers, the event follows an open-house format—participants are welcome to drop in when they can and leave as needed. Typically, featured topics and presenters begin once a strong group has assembled, usually within the first 10–15 minutes.

Adding to the festive spirit, several attendees showed up in holiday sweaters, and pets were welcome on screen. Notably, Candy Dupree won best outfit honors—hands down.

To stay informed about upcoming live and virtual events, attendees were reminded to join the GLSA mailing list here:

As always, networking remained a central focus. Participants were encouraged to share their LinkedIn profiles in the chat, making it easy to connect and follow up after the event.

The group then moved into open discussion, sharing industry updates, news, and end-of-year reflections. During this segment, Chris Matheus shared several GLSA updates:

  • GLSA recently contracted with Validcare and Cool Chain to support promotional and sales efforts.

  • Validcare continues to disrupt clinical research as a Digital-First CRO offering fixed-price study management.

  • Cool Chain provides advanced shipping containers capable of maintaining precise temperatures—sub-zero, frozen, refrigerated, or room temperature—for over 120 hours.

  •  Additionally, Heal Mary, a SaaS AI-enhanced patient recruitment platform, was awarded a new project through a GLSA introduction, set to begin in February.

Holiday Reflections and Looking Ahead

Rather than breaking into smaller rooms, the group opted to stay together for casual conversation. Attendees shared holiday plans and discussed expectations for the new year, noting that industry activity typically accelerates by the third week of January.
