King Cake

Ingredients:

75g (~2/3 Cup) Butter

100g (~3/4 Cup) White Sugar

2 Puff Pastry

140g (~1 1/8 Cup) Almond Flour

3 Eggs

 

Accessories:

Whisk

Bowl

Pie Pan

Pastry Brush

Oven

 

Instructions:

  1. Soften the butter by placing it in the microwave for around 30 to 60 seconds.
  2. Mix in a bowl the sugar, almond flour, 2 eggs and the white of the third egg (keep the yolk for later), and the softened butter.
  3. Place one sheet of puff pastry into the pie pan and poke it with a fork.
  4. Cover the puff pastry with jam (Optional).
  5. Add the mix to the puff pastry.
  6. Cover the whole with the second sheet of puff pastry.
  7. Draw motifs on the sheet with a knife (Optional).
  8. Brush the sheet with the egg yolk.
  9. Place the pie pan in the oven at 200°C (392 F°) for 25 minutes.
  10. Enjoy.
