Clinical Research Networking Event: January 2022 GLSA Recap

The clinical research networking event hosted by Global Life Sciences Alliance (GLSA) and FOCM on January 19, 2022 brought together professionals from across the drug and medical device development industry to kick off the new year with open discussion and meaningful connection. This first event of 2022 welcomed three first-time attendees and set a collaborative tone for the months ahead.

To encourage conversation, the group remained together in one main room. Attendees introduced themselves and shared perspectives on current industry topics, including COVID trends, treatment outlooks, and the ongoing impact on travel, conferences, and in-person collaboration. While concerns about new variants remained, there was also a shared sense of optimism and fatigue-driven hope for stability.

A featured highlight of the clinical research networking event was a presentation from Heal Mary, (https://healmaryapp.com/) an oncology patient recruitment platform and GLSA client. Founded by Cassandra Hui, Heal Mary was inspired by her personal experience navigating limited treatment options for her mother. Drawing on her background in technology and artificial intelligence, Cass built Heal Mary to ensure patients are aware of all available options, including relevant clinical trials. A short video shared during the event captured her motivation and mission to improve patient access and awareness (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLB_CmGY3-trX3rKePF0FWw).

Looking ahead, attendees were invited to the February networking event, which will feature Kalyan Ghosh of Inference. He will discuss the critical role of data management and biostatistics in drug development.
