June 2021 FOCM | GLSA Networking Event

Life Sciences Virtual Networking Event Recap | June 17, 2021

Once again, the Global Life Sciences Alliance (GLSA) and FOCM Networking hosted a successful virtual networking event on June 17, 2021. As a result, attendees felt more comfortable with the format and Zoom breakout rooms. Overall, the session was smooth, engaging, and productive.

To begin, we reviewed highlights from the May event. Next, we outlined the agenda and meeting guidelines. After that, Chris introduced GLSA members to the broader FOCM community, setting a collaborative tone for the evening.

Following introductions and open discussion, our Zoom Room Administrator, Brandon, assigned attendees into breakout rooms of four people each. Initially, the plan was to run 10-minute sessions. However, based on feedback from Joe, we extended them to 12 minutes. This small change allowed for deeper conversation and proved very effective.

Then, the evening moved into “speed networking” mode. Chris shared the idea that most clinical research professionals are only two degrees of separation from one another. Throughout three breakout rotations, attendees introduced themselves, shared their backgrounds, and discussed how they could support each other.

As a result, conversations were lively and meaningful. Valuable insights were exchanged. More importantly, several new connections were formed. These relationships can help strengthen collaboration and improve clinical trial execution across the industry.
