June FOCM | GLSA Networking Event

So, it happened again! – And here are the minutes of the virtual networking event held on June 17, 2021.

The GLSA (Global Life Sciences Alliance) and FOCM (Friends of Chris Matheus) Networking organization did hold an online (virtual) networking event. The event went quite well as we’re getting familiar with the format and the Zoom capabilities for breakout rooms.

The meeting started off with a brief review of the May event. The agenda and guidelines for how these meetings are run was explained. Chris then introduced the GLSA members to the FOCM community.

After a bit of general discussion and introductions we had our Zoom Room Administrator, Brandon randomly distribute the attendees into rooms of 4 people per room for 10 minutes and then we’d come back to the main room – share anything of interest and then get re-shuffled to other rooms. However, Joe, interrupted to recommend we allocate 12 minutes for the networking room breakouts. So we went with 12 minutes!

Then it was time for speed networking! The assertion has been made by Chris that each of us in the clinical research industry are within 2 degrees of separation from each other. We had 3 different sessions. Attendees were randomly put into different “rooms” with the assignment to each introduce themselves and their companies to the group. Good information was exchanged and several new connections were made which can improve the management of clinical trials.
