Life Sciences Networking Event Recap | November GLSA & FOCM Meeting

This life sciences networking event recap highlights the November GLSA and FOCM online meeting, where industry professionals gathered to exchange perspectives, discuss emerging trends, and strengthen meaningful connections across clinical research and drug development.

On November 17, the Global Life Sciences Alliance (GLSA), in partnership with FOCM Networking, hosted its monthly online drug and medical device development networking event.

Key Takeaways from the Life Sciences Networking Event

Unlike the previous month, which featured a presentation on LinkedIn best practices, this session focused on open discussion and reconnecting. With a manageable group size, each participant was personally introduced, creating an engaging and conversational atmosphere. A shared theme throughout the discussion was cautious optimism around COVID-19, particularly the anticipated impact of oral antiviral treatments and the gradual transition toward a new, less restrictive normal.

The event then moved into three breakout rooms based on participant interests:

  • Clinical Trial Recruitment and Retention

  • Innovation and Technology

  • Networking

This life sciences networking event recap reflects how open discussion and peer-driven conversations continue to be a cornerstone of GLSA’s community.

Heather Hollick facilitated the Networking discussion, which explored how professionals approach relationship-building differently. Some participants shared that they intentionally limit their LinkedIn connections to maintain deeper, more meaningful relationships. Others described building larger networks—often exceeding 10,000 connections—that function as “private wikis,” enabling quick access to diverse expertise across the industry. The discussion reinforced that effective networking looks different depending on individual goals and working styles.

We look forward to continuing these conversations at our December 15 event—and festive attire is encouraged. If you have a holiday sweater, now’s the perfect time to wear it.
